Only a handful of charters can truly offer you the rod bending, drag tearing action Cascade Fishing Charters can. A world renowned charter, they put you onto some of the best fishing in the world from their home base in Whakatane, New Zealand, and from Tonga during the southern hemisphere winter months.

The trips have been nothing short of brilliant… one of the best charter operators in NZ”

When based in New Zealand they offer both day and multi-day trips, depending on where you want to go and what species you want to target. While a trip out to White Island, New Zealand’s most active volcano, can prove an experience in itself, the fishing can be epic. Then you’ve got the option of the Ranfurly banks or the Three Kings, two of New Zealand’s hottest fishing destinations. It’s a term rarely thrown around these days, but you’re almost guaranteed to hook up on the fish of a lifetime while on these trips, whether that be a massive Kingfish, Hapuka, Bass, Marlin or another beast from the deep blue.

It’s likely you’ll get home with sore forearms, stiff shoulders and a crook back, but you’ll have a belly full of delicious fish and memories that will last a lifetime.

When Cascade Charters isn’t in New Zealand waters you’ll find them in Tonga. They started heading over there during the southern hemisphere winter months back in 2012, and the trips have been hugely popular. In Tonga the experiences are still world class, but they are unique. You’ll be catching the likes of Sail Fish, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Mahimahi, Yellow Fin Tuna, GT’s and more.

When you head out on a one or three night tour with Cascade Charters, you’ll also have the chance to go diving and swim with Whales. Included as part of the trip, it’s something only a handful of people in the world get to experience. It’s truly amazing, and while hard to comprehend, these photo’s here give you some sense of what this would be like.

While the fishing and diving is off the hook, you’ll also get to experience it all from the comfort of a great fishing vessel. It’s licensed to carry up to 15 anglers plus crew and has berths for 6 anglers plus crew for those multi-day trips. The boat also boasts a built in live bait tank, insulated fish holds, an on-board dive compressor & generator, two fresh hot water showers, a flush toilet, an open saloon for eating and socialising, a well equipt galley, BBQ, full oven, gas hobs, microwave and a surround sound system. Yes, it is an awesome boat. It’s also as safe as they come… I think getting from New Zealand to Tonga and back once a year is proof of that. As for the tackle, it’s only the best with these guys. It has to be!

A bit about the Captain

Captain Mike Boswell grew up in Whakatane, the home base of Cascade Charters, and know’s every reef and hot fishing spot of these productive waters. Somewhat of a local legend, Mike is highly experienced, enthusiastic and knows how to put anglers onto the fish. He has been involved with Cascade Charters for over 10 years and holds his Offshore Masters Certificate.

For those that want to get in for a dive, you’ll be pleased to know Mike is also a qualified diver and is always keen to join you in the water. The stories told by those that fish with Cascade Charters also make note of Mike’s cooking skills, apparently the meals you’ll be served are second to none.
